FOUNTAIN

Choreographed by Dr Phillip Adams

As part of her Third Year in her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) at the Victorian College of the Arts, Kitana performed alongside her cohort in the production of FOUNTAIN in the 2025 season of the Melbourne RISING Festival.

FOUNTAIN by Dr Phillip Adams is a nostalgic 80’s queer extravaganza, influenced by the worlds of Alan Parker’s FAME (1980) and Jane Fonda’s ‘Workout’ (1982). Exploring themes of repetition, violence, trauma euphoria, endurance, exhaustion and fierce competition, dancers are subject to the ultimate absurd audition to ‘Get the job’ within the professional industry, testing the physical and psychological limits they will go for their career. FOUNTAIN captures the retro synth pop mania of an 80’s Jane Fonda aerobics class whilst upholding this euphoric drive ‘to live forever.’ The cast’s youthful dynamic energy highlights the comedic appeal and camp of A Chorus LineFOUNTAIN is a challenge that is both fitting and inspiring during the students’ final year of training.
