Kitana Price
About me
Kitana is a 20-year-old Wotjobaluk artist from the North-west region of Victoria, born and raised in the south-east suburbs of Naarm/Melbourne on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nations. Currently in her Third year of her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) at the Victorian College of the arts, she is working with choreographers Rheannan Port, Wirastuti Susilaningtyas and Melanie Lane in the VCA Dance 2025 Graduate Season Production.
Kitana has an interdisciplinary background, training in Contemporary, Jazz, Hip hop, Ballet, Ballroom, and Theatre throughout her secondary and tertiary education. At just the age of four-years-old, Kitana started her dance training in the Ballroom studio of her hometown in Pakenham where she learnt Street Latin, Latin, Modern and New Vogue styles. Her passion for dance only grew stronger after seeing a Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers film with her parents, setting her sites on a career in movement and performance. During her Secondary education Kitana completed her early access VCE Dance in 2021, receiving a dux award for the subject at Officer Secondary College. During this time, she trained in contemporary, lyrical, jazz, and hip hop styles at Starstruck Dance and Cheerleading Academy, falling in love with the freeness of contemporary movement. Having had the opportunity to work with professionals during her VCE including a Chunky Move workshop with Kyall Shanks, Kitana applied for and was accepted to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) upon completion of her Secondary studies in 2022.
Upon moving to the Naarm/Melbourne CBD to pursue her studies, Kitana was accepted into student accommodation at the University of Melbourne’s Ormond College, where she became a strong member of the Indigenous community. During her studies at Victorian College of the Arts, Kitana has been a First Nations representative of the cohort at Performing arts festivals both internationally and locally. She has been a First Nations VCA representative in the 2023 Prague Quadrennial Festival, performed as a dancer for ‘CTHULHU’ in the 2024 MUSE Festival, performed ‘Nonesuch’ choreographed by Anna Smith and ‘Fractal’ choreographed by Nicole Corea in both the 2024 Solo International Performing Arts Festival (SIPA) Jakarta and the 2024 ARTJOG Festival Yogyakarta, and Dr. Phillip Adams’ ‘FOUNTAIN’ in the 2025 Melbourne RISING Festival. Most recently Kitana performed in Buxton Contemporary as a dancer in ‘The Estuary’ concert performance, a collaboration with students from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music at the VCA in response to ‘The Veil’ installation.
A committed Koori leader within her communities, Kitana has been the recipient for a number of scholarships and positions including:
